Waitangi Day is a national holiday to celebrate when the Treaty of Waitangi was signed and NZ became known as a nation called New Zealand. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on February 6th, 1840, at Waitangi in the Bay of Islands. 500 Maori chiefs and representatives of the Queen signed the Treaty of Waitangi. Maori agreed that the British would make the laws and the Government, and the Queen agreed that Maori would own land, forests and rivers. The British bought land off Maori.
On Waitangi Day, this year, Dad, Regan and I made a big waterslide for when our friends came over. When our friends arrived, we started playing on the waterslide. It was like a non stop train but on water.
