When I was eight years old, our school had an Athletics Day. We all competed in lots of events, like High Jump, Long Jump, Vortex, Shot Put, Discus and Sprints.
First, we went to high jump. The high jump pad was blue and the poles that held the black and orange pole up was grey. It was easy at first but it got harder and harder until I made the bar jump off the poles that were holding it up. The high jump was as high as a hawk flying and as hard as a rock.
Next, we went to long jump. At the long jump, there was a mat to jump over. My first jump was 2.02 metres, my next attempt was 2.05 metres and my last attempt was 2.5 metres. The long jump was as sandy as the beach.
Finally, we went to shot put. The shot put was as heavy as a bag of rocks. The shot put was round and heavy.
It was a fun day, but I was very tired when I got home from school that afternoon.
On Pet Day, some of the school brought their pets to show off at school. The pets were a rabbit, fish, birds, a mouse, possum, chickens and dogs. The possum was fluffy, brown and black and it had a little black cage with a towel over it so it would be dark.
The dogs were fiesty around each other and some dogs were calm and some were scared. Some dogs were big, some were small, some were shaggy and some were smooth haired.
At lunch everyone was walking around with their dogs, having races and running together.
